Osun PDP Leaders Pass Vote of No Confidence on Deputy Governor, Ex-National Secretary

Leaders and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ife Federal Constituency have passed a vote of no confidence on the Deputy Governor of Osun State, Prince Kola Adewusi, and the party’s former National Secretary, Prof. Wale Oladipo, over alleged anti-party activities.

The resolution was reached during a meeting on Monday, attended by prominent figures including the State Financial Secretary, Prince Adesoji Adegoke, former Deputy Speaker Ropo Oyewole, serving commissioners Dipo Eluwole and Biyi Odunlade, alongside 35 other stakeholders.

Accusations of Sabotage

In a communique jointly signed by 39 chieftains, the leaders accused Adewusi and Oladipo of actions deemed detrimental to the party’s unity and electoral strength. They also criticised Hon. Bimbo Ajilesoro, the Ife Federal Constituency lawmaker who defected from the PDP after being elected on its platform.

The party leaders further condemned the alleged role of the Ife East PDP Chairman, Hon. Olasunkanmi Makinde (a.k.a Benco), in inviting thugs to a constituency meeting—an event they claimed was initially scheduled to hold at the deputy governor’s residence, allegedly at Oladipo’s instruction.

Discontent Over Defection Ties

The communique accused Adewusi, Oladipo, and Makinde of maintaining close ties with Ajilesoro despite his defection, while “victimising” loyal PDP members who distanced themselves from the lawmaker. They also lamented the suspension of party meetings in Ife East Local Government, saying it has weakened grassroots mobilisation.

“In view of the above, which amount to anti-party activities and pose grave danger to the success of the party in Ifeland, we resolved that a vote of no confidence is passed on Prof. Wale Oladipo, Deputy Governor Prince Kola Adewusi, and Ife East PDP Chairman, Hon. Olasunkanmi Makinde,” the communique read.

Oladipo Dismisses Move

Reacting to the resolution, Prof. Wale Oladipo waved off the decision as unserious, saying it would not stand.

“We are all Ife. How will an Ife man (Ajilesoro) enter your premises, especially if it is a public place where they sell food, and you chase the person away? They are just joking. They are a set of jesters,” he said.
