Prof Kurfi: The First Katsina Communication Professor

There were great excitement and celebration on Tuesday as Associate Professor Mainasara Yakubu Kurfi has been promoted to the exalted rank of Professor of Communication and Media Studies.

The news of his promotion was contained in a letter sent to him by the university management notifying him about his promotion to the highest rank in academic arena.

The letter disclosed that the Senate and Management of Bayero University, Kano on Tuesday has approved his elevation to the rank of full professor.

Professor Kurfi is a senior lecturer and Head of Department at the Department of Mass Communication, Bayero University, Kano (BUK).

Upon sighted the story, his students, friends and other relatives took to their various social media handles to celebrate this great achievement, stating that the promotion is well-deserved.

The Katsina Post gathered that Kurfi is the first Katsina indigent to attain the professorial position of Communication and Media Studies.

Prof Kurfi Teaches For Decades

The Communication scholar, Prof Kurfi, has been teaching for more than a decade and has graduated hundreds of students who learned from his vast experience and knowledge.

He started his career as a graduate assistant and journeyed to highest and exalted rank of professorship.

His publications have been published by both national and international journals, making a renowned communication expert in Nigeria and beyond.

The erudite journalism Scholar has attended many conferences in Nigeria and abroad.

Areas of Specialization

His areas of specialization are: communication research, marketing communication, media law and ethics and film studies.

Origin

Professor Mainasara Yakubu hailed from Kurfi Local Government Area of Katsina State in Northwestern Nigeria, where he did his primary and secondary schools before he proceeded to Bayero University, Kano.
