Second Republic Politician, Senator Bello Maitama Yusuf, Dies at 76

Former Nigerian Minister and Senator, Alhaji Bello Maitama Yusuf, has passed away at 76.

A close family friend, Alhaji Hussaini Dalhatu, confirmed and announced the unfortunate demise of the prominent political figure.

He noted that Maitama died in the early hours of Friday in Kano.

According to Islamic rites, the funeral prayer for the late Sardauna Dutse will be held after Jumu’at prayer at the Emir of Kano’s palace.

Born in Gwaram, Jigawa State, in 1947, Bello Maitama Yusuf had a distinguished political career, serving as the Minister of Interior in 1981.

He was then appointed Minister of Commerce in 1982. His contributions to the nation’s governance will be remembered and celebrated
