Kaduna State government has held an emergency security meeting with representatives of seven local governments battling with the issue of insecurity to take more decisive steps to degrade terrorists destroying lives and livelihoods.
Addressing journalist shortly after the closed door meeting at government House Kaduna, Governor Uba Sani described the meeting as strategic.
According to Governor, in the last three weeks, Kaduna State has faced series of unfortunate incidents of insecurity in some of the local government areas.
He pointed out that, the meeting have brought together Members of the state House of Assembly from the seven local government and its Chairmen, head of security agencies, Traditional rulers from the affected Councils and other stakeholders to review the security situation in the area by assessing intelligence gathering and sharing efforts.
“Since the Kuriga school children abduction, I have been working round the clock, and pulling out all the stops, across all layers of government and security architecture, to ensure their safe return and most crucially to see that this terrible menace is contained”
“I am in constant touch with parents of the abducted children and leaders of the Kuriga community. They are in high spirits, confident that our efforts will be successful”
Malam Uba Sani further said traditional rulers have an important role to play particularly monitoring their communities and also to observe movement of strangers.
“In this meeting we also realised that, there is alot complaints of some disgruntled elements that have been penetrating some of the communities, we are suspecting most of them are informants”
Governor Uba Sani also Said, he has instructed the traditional rulers and local government Chairmen to fish out strange individuals, suspicious movement and report to the security agencies immediately which he said it would go along way in enhancing security effort and deepening their intelligence gathering and Sharing.
According to him, one of the key issues the emergency meeting addressed is the issue of informants at the local level.
“We must identify them and deal with them decisively. Traditional Rulers, Religious Leaders, Local Government Chairmen and other key stakeholders have a key role to play in assisting security agencies with intelligence”

Earlier, Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Mr Audu Ali said the recent spate of banditry in some part of the state is a collective responsibility of all the security agencies, saying that there is ongoing join security operation since 2022 under the Military
He also announced that two hundred Special Intervention Squads have been deployed to Kaduna State as directed by the Inspector General of Police.
Mr Ali explained that, all the special squad would work at Police Unit in Kuriga community in Chikun local government to improve security in the area.
A member representing Kajuru Constituency at Kaduna State House of Assembly, Mr Usman Danlami noted that the series of attacks that occurred at Kajuru have brought serious set back in the Council.
The Local governments that are confronted with the security challenges are Kajuru, Chikun, Birnin Gwari, Igabi, Giwa, Kachia and Kagarko.
