Al-Istiqama University Suspends Student for Public Display of Affection

A 200-level computer science student at Al-Istiqama University, Abdullahi Juli Mansur, has been suspended for displaying affection towards a female classmate on campus.

The university announced the suspension on Tuesday after a video of the incident went viral on social media. The video shows Mansur offering a red bouquet to the female student. While the student’s response is unclear, the act drew cheers from onlookers.

The university considers public displays of affection to be “immoral” and suspended Mansur with immediate effect. A disciplinary committee has been formed to investigate the matter further.

According to a university memo signed by Deputy Registrar Sani A. Usman, Mansur’s suspension aims to uphold the institution’s guiding principles.

Sources familiar with the situation allege this is not Mansur’s first warning regarding similar behavior.
