Kano State Launches First-Ever Palliative Scholarship Program for Law Graduates

In a move designed to empower its citizens, the Kano State Government has announced a unique scholarship program specifically for indigenes who have obtained a law degree but haven’t attended law school. This initiative is part of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s broader commitment to education and human capital development.

The program’s details were revealed by Alhaji Kabiru Haruna Getso, Executive Secretary of the Kano State Scholarship Board, during a press interview. Getso highlighted Kano’s position as a national leader in awarding scholarships, a recognition bestowed by the federal government.

The announcement comes alongside news of Kano State being chosen to host a significant five-day event focused on critical issues within the scholarship sector, bringing together key stakeholders for discussions.

“Kano indigenes studying law anywhere in the world should contact the Scholarship Board,” Getso urged, “as Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has pledged to cover their tuition fees.”

Getso further commended the state government’s achievements in sponsoring Kano indigenes for international master’s degrees through scholarships. He underscored the substantial investment made in both domestic and foreign scholarships, with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s palliative scholarship program marking a historic first for Kano State.

Addressing recent unfounded rumors regarding the wellbeing of Kano students studying in India, Getso dismissed them as politically motivated fabrications intended to damage the state’s image.

Getso concluded by congratulating Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and his Deputy, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, on their first year in office, reaffirming the government’s dedication to educational progress and the development of human capital in Kano State.
