Nigerian Anti-Corruption Group Praises EFCC Chairman, Demands Action on NSCDC Boss

The African Network for Anti-Corruption (ANA) issued a strong call to action in the fight against corruption in Nigeria. This announcement was made during a press conference held at the NUT Complex in Kaduna on Monday.

During the press briefing, the convener of ANA, Comrade Muhammad Musbahu Basirka, commended the efforts of the Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on his work in fighting corruption in Nigeria.

“We acknowledge Mr. Olukoyede’s laudable achievements so far in his mission to transform the EFCC,” said Musbahu Basirka, President/Convenor of ANA. “However, we are deeply concerned by reports of a planned protest against the EFCC, allegedly funded by a former Governor and Ministers.”

The ANA called the protest attempt “a threat to our democracy” and urged Nigerians to support the EFCC’s fight against corruption.

The group also addressed allegations of embezzlement against the Commandant General of the National Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

“We are disappointed by the lack of action taken regarding the allegations of over 6 billion Naira embezzled by the NSCDC Commandant General,” Basirka stated. “We demand his immediate suspension and a thorough investigation.”

The ANA issued a two-week ultimatum to the Federal Government to take action against the NSCDC chief. “Failure to do so will force us to call for a massive protest,” Basirka warned.

The press conference concluded with a call to unity and action from all Nigerians. “Nigeria is bigger than any individual,” Basirka declared. “We urge all Nigerians to join us in this fight against corruption and demand accountability from our leaders.”
