Group Laments Prolonged Delay in N95bn Bali–Serti–Gembu Road Project

A civil society group has expressed deep concern over the prolonged delay in completing the Bali – Serti – Gembu road project, a major federal infrastructure contract valued at N95 billion.

The group noted that despite the huge allocation and the strategic importance of the road to economic and social activities in Taraba State and the North-East region, progress has been painfully slow.

According to the group, the project expected to ease transportation, boost trade, and connect rural communities has remained largely stagnant, leaving residents and commuters to suffer the consequences of bad roads, high transport costs, and insecurity.

They called on the Federal Government and the Ministry of Works to urgently review the pace of work, hold contractors accountable, and ensure that the road is delivered within a realistic timeline.

The group stressed that the Bali – Serti -Gembu road serves as a lifeline for farmers, traders, and travellers, warning that further delays could undermine regional development and public trust in government infrastructure commitments.
