APC Screens Barau for 2027 Senate Re-election Bid

Deputy Senate President, Barau I. Jibrin, has declared his intention to seek re-election to represent Kano North Senatorial District, saying he will once again present himself before the electorate for the renewal of his mandate.

Barau made this known on Saturday through a statement shared on his official Facebook page following his participation in the screening exercise conducted by the All Progressives Congress, APC, for senatorial aspirants in Abuja.

According to the Deputy Senate President, the screening came 48 hours after he submitted his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms to contest the party’s senatorial ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“With the successful outcome of the screening, I will once again humbly present myself to the good people of Kano North Senatorial District for the revalidation of the mandate they have overwhelmingly entrusted in me,” he said.

Barau stated that his decision to seek re-election was driven by his commitment to sustain ongoing developmental projects and improve the standard of living of residents across the senatorial district.

He noted that politics, to him, remains a platform for service and development, stressing that he would remain steadfast in pursuing initiatives aimed at uplifting the socioeconomic wellbeing of the people.

“I will always remain steadfast and unwavering in the quest to bring more development to our people and uplift their standard of living. That is the essence of politics, and it is the reason I am in politics,” he added.

The lawmaker also expressed appreciation to constituents in Kano North for their continued support and confidence in his leadership over the years.

Barau further expressed optimism that voters in the district would reaffirm their support during the January 16, 2027 elections, describing the forthcoming poll as an opportunity to consolidate what he called purposeful and effective representation.

He said the anticipated electoral mandate would strengthen efforts toward achieving rapid socioeconomic development across Kano North and beyond.
