The immediate past governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, was at the national secretariat of the Social Democratic Party in Abuja on Wednesday.
A source privy to the incident informed that El-Rufai’s visit to the opposition party’s secretariat was unexpected and thus tagged as a “surprise visit”.
It was learned that the move was made towards strengthening his political affiliations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The source hinted further that the former Governor, who is a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was there on a consultation visit to the National Chairman of the SDP, Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam.
Gabam hailed El-Rufai as a friend with a strong political background, noting that Nigeria needed transformational leaders like him.
El-Rufai has recently paid consultation visits to some prominent leaders from various political groups.
