Announcing the winners, the Federal Ministry Of Communications Innovation & Digital Economy, through the National Communication Commission (NCC), said the Young Innovative Builders program recognizes students across the country in tertiary institutions who have gone through an industrial training program.

They added that “the initiative recognizes the important role of industrial training programs in providing practical experience for applying knowledge.”

“The top 48 innovative solutions in each state, as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), are rewarded with laptops.”

Ruqayya Muhammad Bello entered the competition with a website, an e-commerce platform where people can buy and sell their products.

She said, “My enrollment at CITAD’s Digital Creativity and Innovation for Young Women & Girls (DICI_YOW) program supported by Lenovo prepared me for winning a new computer from the NCC Young Innovative Builders competition. I’m grateful to CITAD.”

While Hafsat Ahmad Abdullahi of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria entered the competition with an application called ‘Afribooks app’.

Afribooks is a comprehensive platform that brings together readers, writers, and publishers in a single space.
