PDP Hits Back at Kwankwaso: You Are Politically Inconsequential

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, as a failed and insignificant figure in Nigerian politics.

Kwankwaso, the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), recently claimed that the PDP has lost its relevance.

Speaking at the inauguration of a renovated party office in Katsina State, he remarked that his exit from the PDP marked the party’s decline.

“I wish to remind you that the PDP is dead because we left the party. Since they have gone out of the line, we decided to check out,” Kwankwaso said.

In a swift response, the PDP, in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, criticized Kwankwaso’s remarks, calling him self-centered and lacking true leadership qualities.

“Our reaction to the statement credited to Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso is that he is very inconsequential in Nigerian national politics today, judging from the fact that he is struggling to lead a party like the NNPP, which barely controls one state.

“It is unimaginable that a failed and inconsequential politician with only one state under his control would claim that a party with 13 governors, numerous senators, and strong nationwide presence is dead,” the statement said.

The PDP went on to describe Kwankwaso as an insensitive politician, emphasizing that his political achievements were made possible through the party.

“It is unfortunate that at a time when the PDP and patriotic Nigerians are speaking out against the extreme hardship caused by the APC’s policies, Kwankwaso is focused on his ambitions. While millions of Nigerians are sinking deeper into poverty and the naira has drastically fallen, Kwankwaso’s only concern is his dream of becoming president,” the statement continued.

The PDP concluded by noting that it would not engage further with Kwankwaso, stating that any relevance he believes he has was achieved while he was still in the PDP.
