Rurum Prays for Zago, Calls Him a Man of the People

The Member representing Rano, Kibiya, and Bunkure Federal Constituency, Hon. Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, has expressed sorrow over the death of the Managing Director of the Refuse Management and Sanitation Board (REMASAB), Alhaji Ahmadu Haruna Zago.

In a statement personally signed by Hon. Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, he described the late Zago as a dedicated public servant and a grassroots politician whose contributions will be missed.

“The passing of Alhaji Ahmadu Haruna Zago, fondly known as Dan Zago, is a great loss not only to his immediate family but also to Kano State and the nation at large. His dedication to public service, particularly as a grassroots politician and an influential leader, was remarkable. He was a source of inspiration to many and a man who carried everyone along, regardless of their background,” Rurum stated.

Hon. Rurum extended his condolences to the family of the deceased, the Kano State Government, and the people of Kano. He prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the late Zago, grant him Jannatul Firdaus, and provide strength and patience to the bereaved family.

The late Zago, aged 74, passed away after a prolonged illness at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital. He is survived by four wives, 37 children, and numerous grandchildren. A funeral prayer (Salatul Janaza) is scheduled to take place today at 1:00 PM at the Emir’s Palace, Kano, where dignitaries, friends, and associates are expected to pay their final respects.

During his lifetime, Alhaji Ahmadu Haruna Zago held various political and administrative roles, including serving as the State Chairman of the defunct ANPP, a member of the 2019 APC Presidential Campaign Committee, and Political Adviser to a former Kano State Governor. He also served as Special Assistant to a former Speaker of the House of Representatives and was a board member of several private organizations within and outside Kano State.

“May his legacy of service and dedication to the betterment of society continue to inspire generations to come,” Hon. Rurum added.
