Newlywed Couple, Two Others Abducted by Bandits in Zamfara

Newlyweds and two other individuals have been kidnapped in Zamfara State, Northwest Nigeria.

Bandits, in their droves on Saturday night, stormed Madabanciya village in the Bungudu Local Government Area of the state and abducted a groom, his bride, and two others.

A resident of the area said the bandits also carted away the bride’s clothes and ornaments, and stole animals, among other valuables.

The resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said, “They arrived a few minutes before 12 am, kidnapped four persons, including a newlywed couple.

“Surprisingly, the heavily armed bandits came on foot and operated unchallenged because there are no security operatives in the entire area. This is the first time our area was attacked.”

There was no official confirmation of the incident by the state police command.

The spokesperson for the command, ASP Yazid Abubakar, told our correspondent that he had yet to be briefed on the matter.
