Victor Oko, the newly appointed Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, has affirmed his allegiance to Governor Sim Fubara.

In his inaugural address in Port Harcourt, Oko assured that the assembly, under his leadership, would collaborate closely with the governor and the citizens of the state.

Emphasizing transparency and public engagement, “We will ensure that there is transparency and clarity in the 10th legislative assembly.” Oko stated

He also directed the Clerk to inform the governor of the assembly’s new leadership and expressed readiness to serve the people of Rivers State.

This development follows the swift election of Victor Jumbo as speaker by assembly members, occurring shortly after Governor Fubara dismissed claims of a majority defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) by 27 members.
