Qatar Charity to fund scholarships for Bayero University students

Qatar Charity Foundation, a humanitarian organization, has pledged to award scholarships to disadvantaged students at Bayero University, Kano.

The foundation’s Country Director, Hamdi Abdou, announced the plans during a visit to the university’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas.

Abdou said the visit aimed to renew the relationship between the foundation and the university and expressed their commitment to supporting scholarships for students in need.

Abdou also highlighted the foundation’s ongoing efforts to address water shortages in Nigeria. He stated that last year, the foundation drilled 1,500 boreholes across 15 states, built 400 mosques, and provided monthly support to 4,500 orphans, with 1,200 from Kano State alone.

Professor Abbas welcomed the visit and emphasized the university’s commitment to strengthening its ties with the Qatar Charity Foundation.

He offered the university’s research expertise to assist the foundation in addressing challenges related to its activities.

Both parties agreed to sign a formal memorandum of understanding to solidify their partnership.
