Kano State Police to Enforce Court Order Halting Emir Sanusi’s Reinstatement

In a decisive move to uphold judicial directives, the Kano State Police Command has declared its commitment to enforcing the recent court order that prevents the reinstatement of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano.

At a press briefing held on Saturday at the Bompai command headquarters, Commissioner of Police Usaini Gumel assured the public that all security agencies in the state are prepared to maintain peace and order. He emphasized the command’s readiness to handle any attempts to disrupt stability due to the emirate dispute.

“We will deal ruthlessly with anyone attempting to incite violence over the emirate tussle,” Gumel stated, reinforcing the police’s zero-tolerance policy towards unrest.

This development follows a ruling by the Federal High Court, presided over by Justice A.M. Liman, which granted an ex-parte order restraining the Kano State Government from reinstating Sanusi. Despite being abroad in the United States, Justice Liman issued the order on Thursday night, addressing a petition filed by Aminu Babba-Dan’Agundi, a traditional title holder known as the Sarkin Dawaki Babba.

The legal intervention highlights the ongoing tensions and complexities surrounding the emirate’s leadership, with security agencies now tasked with ensuring compliance and stability in the region.
