The Kano Integrity Bloc (KIB) is urging the Kano State Governor and government to comply with a Federal High Court order halting the abrogation of five emirates in the state.

The association, in a statement by its leader, Usman Auwal Nagode, emphasised the importance of respecting the rule of law and urged all arms of government to work together in harmony to ensure peace, stability, and progress in the state.

The KIB expressed concern over the government’s attempt to dismantle the emirate system, which they consider a vital part of Kano’s cultural heritage and traditional governance.

The group called the government’s action a “flagrant disregard for the rule of law” and a “direct assault” on Kano’s cultural identity.

The KIB urged the government to comply with the court order and avoid actions that could threaten the state’s peace and stability. They pledged to pursue legal means to protect Kano’s traditions and people’s rights.

The KIB also called on all stakeholders, including the state and federal governments, traditional rulers, civil society organizations, and the public, to work together to uphold the rule of law and preserve Kano’s cultural identity.
