The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) have announced a nationwide strike starting Monday, June 3rd, 2024. This comes after the tripartite committee tasked with negotiating a new minimum wage failed to reach an agreement.
The announcement was made by TUC President Festus Osifo at a joint press conference with NLC leadership in Abuja today.
The decision follows the expiration of an ultimatum issued to the Federal Government demanding the conclusion of minimum wage negotiations by the end of May.
Organized labour previously walked out of negotiations and rejected two offers from the Federal Government, the most recent being N60,000 for the minimum wage.
