RMAFC Seeks Jigawa Government’s Support for Key Bills Before National Assembly

The Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) is seeking support from the Jigawa State Government to urge National Assembly members to back the Commission’s bills currently before the House.

The Federal Commissioner of the Commission, representing Jigawa State, Hajiya Hauwa Umar Aliyu Birniwa, made this plea during her visit to the Secretary to the Government of Jigawa State, Malam Bala Ibrahim, in his office.

Hauwa Birniwa highlighted two key bills, which include advocating for joint funding from the Federal, State, and Local Governments to enhance performance in the 2023 appropriation bill, and another seeking to strengthen the Commission’s mandate and powers in monitoring revenue generation and disbursements for the Federal Government.

She also informed the SSG about the establishment of an RMAFC state office in Dutse and other states, aimed at guiding State and Local Governments on Internal Revenue Generation, Budget, and Public Finance.

Hauwa Birniwa expressed gratitude to Governor Malam Umar A. Namadi for his support of the Commission and assured that the Commission would continue to support and cooperate with the Jigawa State Government to achieve the desired objectives.

Responding, the Secretary to the Government of Jigawa State, Malam Bala Ibrahim, expressed gratitude for the visit, congratulated Hajiya Hauwa Umar Aliyu on her appointment, and reaffirmed Jigawa State’s commitment to collaborating with RMAFC to enhance its internally generated revenue (IGR).

Ismaila Ibrahim Dutse, the Public Relations Officer of the SSG’s office, stated that the Federal Commissioner was accompanied by the State Accountant General, Alhaji Abdullahi S. G Shehu, Directors from the Ministry of Finance, and the State Coordinator for RMAFC’s Jigawa office.
