On Tuesday, the Zamfara State Government refuted claims of allocating N19 billion for kitchenware under Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration.
At a media briefing in Gusau, State Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Abdulmalik Gajam, dismissed the reports as misleading and unfounded.
Gajam stated, “The information circulating on social media is unverified and false. A government committed to reducing spending to secure a better future for the state would not allocate N19 billion for the governor’s kitchen and canteen equipment.”
He emphasized the administration’s transparency and openness, inviting media and stakeholders to verify information directly rather than spreading unverified claims. “We welcome scrutiny from any media outlet that seeks to understand our administration with good intentions,” he said.
Gajam also expressed concern that such misinformation could provoke unnecessary reactions from the public. He urged media houses to verify and disseminate only accurate information.
He highlighted that the 2024 ‘Budget of Rescue’ under Lawal’s administration aims to enhance revenue generation, reduce expenditure, and ensure transparency in the management of public funds.
Gajam reassured that the administration remains committed to expenditures that serve the interests of the people of Zamfara State, as reported by NAN.
