The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano State Command, has arrested a 75-year-old man, Nuhu Baba, for allegedly selling illicit substances to youths in Tumbau Village, Gezawa Local Government Area for over two years.

The command’s spokesperson, Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Tuesday, noting that the suspect admitted to engaging in the trade as a means of livelihood.

“Baba’s case highlights the troubling spread of drug trafficking, which cuts across all demographics, including the elderly. This incident underscores the widespread nature of substance abuse within communities,” Muhammad-Maigatari stated.

Recovered substances included Tramadol, Cannabis Sativa, Diazepam, Exol-5, and Rubber Solution.

The NDLEA State Commander, Abubakar Idris-Ahmad, reiterated the agency’s commitment to curbing drug abuse and trafficking, urging the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
