New Army GOC Vows Unbiased Approach to Tackling Plateau’s Security Crisis

The newly appointed General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 3 Division, Nigerian Army, and Commander of Operation Safe Haven, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, has vowed to uphold justice and impartiality in addressing the security challenges plaguing Plateau State.

During a courtesy visit to Governor Caleb Mutfwang at the Government House in Little Rayfield, Jos, Oyinlola reaffirmed his commitment to fostering peace in the troubled region.

“For decades, clashes between herding and farming communities in Plateau have resulted in significant loss of lives and property, with both sides blaming each other for the violence,” he noted.

To restore confidence and trust among warring factions, the GOC emphasized a balanced and fair approach in handling security matters, assuring both the governor and the people of Plateau of his dedication to lasting peace.

Recognizing the achievements of his predecessor, Oyinlola stressed the need to consolidate previous gains and enhance security efforts across Plateau and its neighboring states.

“Our priority is not only to maintain the existing peace but to strengthen it, ensuring that all communities feel safe and supported,” he stated.

Highlighting the complexity of the security challenges, the GOC underscored the importance of collaboration, stating: “We must adopt a multi-faceted approach by engaging all stakeholders and ensuring that their voices are heard in the pursuit of sustainable peace.”

Governor Mutfwang welcomed the GOC’s commitment and assured him of the Plateau State Government’s full cooperation in tackling security threats within the state and beyond.
