CITAD Partners Ndukwe Kalu Foundation to Train Youth in Northern Nigeria on Cybersecurity, AI, and Digital Rights

By Ali Sabo

The Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) has entered into a strategic partnership with the Ndukwe Kalu Foundation (NKF) to provide specialized training for young people in Northern Nigeria on cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI), digital rights, and data protection.

The partnership, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aims to advance digital literacy and inclusion across the region, particularly targeting students, youth, women, journalists, and persons with disabilities (PWDs). The initiative will also enhance ICT education in underserved areas, empowering communities with essential skills for safe and responsible technology use.

Speaking during the formal signing of the partnership, Yesmin Salako, CITAD Program Officer, Abuja emphasized the organization’s commitment to bridging the digital divide and ensuring that young people in Northern Nigeria are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital world.

“This partnership with the Ndukwe Kalu Foundation will not only provide technical training but will also promote digital responsibility and inclusion, helping young people become active participants in the digital economy,” Mrs Salako stated.

The training programs will cover a wide range of subjects, including new and emerging technologies, platform design and development, IT professional courses, and other relevant areas in information technology.

According to the MoU, both organizations are committed to a lasting partnership that will leverage their combined expertise to deliver practical, timely, and industry-relevant training.

“Our focus is to provide hands-on training that directly benefits the participants, empowering them to use technology safely and responsibly,” Mr. Abdurrazak Imam, Program Officer, Ndukwe Kalu Foundation added.

This collaboration is expected to significantly boost digital literacy and technical capacity in Northern Nigeria, contributing to community development and national growth.
