Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State says security in the north-west region has improved under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, with farming activities resuming after disruptions caused by terrorists and bandits.
Speaking during the All Progressives Congress (APC) North-West Stakeholders’ Meeting in Kaduna on Saturday, Governor Sani reflected on the region’s previous security challenges. He noted how the zone had been affected by violent crimes, making travel and farming difficult.
“Before President Tinubu came into office in 2023, the North-West was at the heart of terrorism, banditry, and kidnappings. People lived in fear, unable to go to their farms or even move freely. It was a dark time,” he said. “But now, just two years into Tinubu’s presidency, things are changing for the better.”
Sani referenced the federal government’s security efforts and agricultural support.
“The president has stabilised security and revived agriculture. Farmers are returning to their fields, and communities are regaining confidence,” he said.
He also said the North-West has several representatives in President Tinubu’s government, including 12 ministers, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Deputy Senate President, and the Chief of Defence Staff.
He listed ongoing federal infrastructure projects, including the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano dual carriageway, Birnin Gwari-Kaduna road, and the Jere-Kafanchan road. He mentioned the creation of the North West Development Commission, the rehabilitation of three dams in Kano, and the establishment of a Federal Ministry of Livestock Development.
Other federal projects include the new Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia and the conversion of the Patrick Yakowa General Hospital in Kafanchan into a Federal Medical Centre.
Sani said these developments have increased the APC’s support in the region.
“With all these achievements, the APC is the party of choice in the North-West. President Tinubu has shown he is a friend of the region,” he said. “Now, it’s time for us to rally behind him and support his second-term bid.”
He urged party stakeholders to increase grassroots mobilization.
“President Tinubu is on a mission to fix our economy, end hunger and poverty, and restore Nigeria’s pride on the global stage,” he said.
