FG Lists Hospitals with Subsidized Dialysis Services

In a recent statement, the Federal Government of Nigeria clarified that its subsidized kidney dialysis scheme is available to patients nationwide, including those in the Northwest region. The Ministry of Health and Social Welfare issued the statement to address misinformation suggesting that the Northwest was excluded from the program.

The initiative, which is part of the “Renewed Hope Agenda,” has already been implemented as a pilot program in 11 federal tertiary health institutions. Under the scheme, the cost of a single dialysis session has been significantly reduced from ₦50,000 to ₦12,000. The ministry confirmed that this effort is aimed at providing financial relief to patients with kidney-related diseases and expanding access to universal healthcare.

Participating Hospitals

The following federal hospitals are currently offering the subsidized dialysis services:

  • Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital
  • University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital
  • Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital
  • University of Jos Teaching Hospital
  • National Hospital, Abuja
  • Federal Medical Centre, Ebute Metta
  • University College Hospital, Ibadan
  • University of Benin Teaching Hospital
  • Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa
  • Federal Teaching Hospital, Owerri
  • Federal Medical Centre, Abakaliki

The government plans to expand the pilot program to include more hospitals across the country, ensuring that all Nigerians can access these critical, life-saving services. This move underscores the government’s commitment to reducing the burden of non-communicable diseases and improving citizens’ overall well-being.
