Jigawa State Distributes Free Medicines to Vulnerable

Jigawa State Government, through the Ministry of Local Government and Community Development, has initiated a program to distribute free essential drugs to vulnerable families across the state.

The program aims to provide access to essential medications for those who cannot afford them.

The program was piloted in three wards of each local government area (LGA) and has now been expanded to cover an additional three wards per LGA, totaling six wards in all LGAs.

The beneficiaries include children under five, pregnant mothers, elderly persons, retired civil servants, orphans, people living with disabilities (PWDs), those living with HIV, and those with sickle cell disorder.

According to the Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, Hon. Ahmed Garba, the state government is committed to ensuring that vulnerable families have access to essential drugs. “The program will continue to be rolled out across the state, reaching more families in need,” he stated.

The distribution of essential drugs is expected to improve the health outcomes of vulnerable families in Jigawa State, aligning with the state government’s commitment to ensuring access to quality healthcare services for all citizens.
