The Secretary of Rano Local Government Council, Dr. Isma’il Yusuf Musa, has endorsed the former Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, for the Kano South senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Dr. Isma’il, a chieftain of the APC in Rano Local Government Area, made the endorsement on Monday while speaking with journalists in Kano, in the presence of thousands of supporters, including women and youth groups.
He said the endorsement followed wide consultations and growing calls from stakeholders across Kano South, urging Rurum to contest the senatorial seat.
“We, along with thousands of his supporters, are endorsing Kabiru Alhassan Rurum for the Senate and calling on him to answer the call of different stakeholders, supporters, women, and youth groups across Kano State, particularly Kano South,” he said.
Dr. Isma’il described Rurum as “a man of the people” who is always accessible and responsive to the needs of his constituents.
“Rurum is a man of the people. He listens to people’s problems and he delivers. His phone is always on, and he answers calls, unlike some politicians who are not attentive to the people,” he said.
He also cited Rurum’s political experience, saying it makes him well-suited for the senatorial position.
“Considering his experience and background in legislative matters, he is the right man for the job. He served as a councillor in Lagos Southwest, later became Majority Leader in the State House of Assembly, and eventually rose to become Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly,” he added.
The endorsement comes amid growing political realignments within the APC in Kano State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
