Kano Governor Inaugurates Major Road Projects as Part of Urban Renewal Efforts

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf marked his first year in office by inaugurating significant road projects aimed at transforming the state’s infrastructure. On Thursday, the governor launched the reconstruction and dualization of the 2.6-kilometer Lodge Road leading to the Government House roundabout.

This initiative is a key element of the state’s urban renewal program, designed to improve road quality and accessibility. Governor Yusuf also unveiled the first phase of the 1.2-kilometer Wuju-Wuju Road and the refurbished Bayero Soli Road, which now features an off-ramp linking to the Ado Bayero Mall.

In his remarks, Governor Yusuf highlighted the importance of these projects for Kano’s economic development. “These road constructions are integral to our urban renewal efforts, enhancing the quality of roads to support commerce and economic activities,” he stated.

The dualization of the Wuju-Wuju Road, initially planned during Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso’s second term in 2023, aims to ease traffic congestion in the bustling Kano metropolis. Governor Yusuf pledged to complete the remaining phases of the project, including the installation of solar-powered lighting.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to development projects that directly impact residents across all 44 local government areas. He expressed gratitude for the support from Kano’s residents and called for their continued cooperation to advance the state’s progress and prosperity.

The statement from the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, emphasized that these projects are part of a broader strategy to modernize Kano and improve living standards for its citizens.
