Impact Series: Kole Shettima Recognized for Dedication to Societal Betterment

On Wednesday, the Akin Fadeyi Foundation honored Kole Shettima, an anti-corruption advocate and Country Director at the McArthur Foundation, during the Impact Series, a virtual event hosted by the foundation.

Speakers at the event praised Shettima for his exemplary leadership and unwavering dedication to societal betterment.

Former Ekiti State First Lady Olabisi Fayemi lauded Shettima as a symbol of integrity and purpose.

“Shettima’s values align with the greater good of society. His impactful work in human advocacy should serve as an inspiration to the new generation,” Fayemi said.

Prof. Sadiq Raddah, Executive Secretary of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACCAC), also commended Shettima’s contributions, emphasizing the crucial role played by the McArthur Foundation in supporting PACCAC’s anti-corruption efforts.

“Kole Shettima is synonymous with progressive activism in Nigeria. His steadfast support was vital to advancing our anti-corruption initiatives during the Buhari administration,” Raddah noted.

Toun Okewale, Co-Founder of Women Radio 91.7 FM, expressed gratitude for Shettima’s support of her organization.

She credited him and the McArthur Foundation for helping establish the Women Radio Centre, which trains female journalists in investigative reporting.

Akin Fadeyi, the convener of the series, revealed that the foundation’s partnership with the McArthur Foundation began after Shettima read an article by Board Chairman Simon Kolawole.

“We cannot fully express our gratitude for the support from Shettima and the McArthur Foundation,” Fadeyi said, appreciating their ongoing support.

In his response, an emotional Shettima thanked the organizers and speakers. He emphasized the significance of humaneness in professional environments, stating, “Organizations are run by people, and we must be mindful of their well-being and feelings.

The McArthur Foundation has provided me with a platform to make a positive impact, and I have learned immensely from those I have worked with.”
