Mass Exodus from Kano NNPP: Defectors Praise DSP Barau, Join APC

A former councillor of Kwankwaso Ward in Madobi Local Government Area of Kano State, Yahaya Sa’idu Kwankwaso, along with other members of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Madobi is the hometown of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the NNPP national leader and 2023 presidential candidate.

The defectors, including Abdulhamid Ahmad Diso, a former Deputy Speaker of Gwale LGA (Diso Ward), and Shu’aibu Isa Kubaraci, announced their defection during a visit to the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, at his residence.

Commenting on the defections, Senator Barau welcomed the new members and emphasized the importance of collaboration in addressing community challenges.

“This decision reflects your desire to contribute meaningfully to governance and development. We are committed to fostering progress and ensuring every member has a role in building a better society,” he said.

Yahaya Sa’idu Kwankwaso explained the reasons behind their decision, citing Senator Barau’s contributions to community development.

“We have seen the tangible impact of Senator Barau’s efforts in improving lives. This convinced us that the APC is the right platform to bring meaningful development to our communities,” he remarked.

Abdulhamid Ahmad Diso added that their move was driven by a need for practical solutions to governance issues. “Our decision is based on a shared commitment to addressing the needs of our people through responsible leadership,” he noted.

In another development, Garba Alhassan Dawaki led a group of defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Dawakin Kudu LGA to the APC. Senator Barau assured all new members of equal opportunities and urged them to unite their efforts for the party’s success.
