Police Arrest 116 Suspects in Abuja Black Spots

Abuja-Nigeria: The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command announced the arrest of 116 suspected criminals following a series of raids on known “black spots” across Abuja. The operation was carried out by the Anti-Narcotics Section of the FCT Police Command between August 1 and August 20, 2025, with the primary objective of eliminating illicit drug activities and associated crimes within the nation’s capital.

During the raids, which took place in areas such as Asokoro, Trademore, Mpape, Kurudu, and Kubwa, police teams successfully recovered a variety of illicit substances, including hard drugs and suspected cannabis. Following the arrests, a thorough screening process was conducted. This led to the release of 89 suspects, while the remaining individuals were charged in court on counts of public nuisance and possession of illicit drugs.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao Adewale, praised the successful operation, highlighting the police’s unwavering dedication to maintaining a safe and drug-free environment for residents. He also urged the public to be law-abiding and to continue supporting the police’s ongoing efforts to enhance security within the city.
