Breaking: Troops Kill Notorious Kidnapper Maidawa, Dozens of Gang Members in Kwara

Ilorin, Kwara State – October 2, 2025 — Joint security forces have killed a notorious kidnapper, identified as Maidawa, along with several of his gang members, during a fierce operation in Isanlu-Isin, Kwara State.

According to a top security source, the operation took place on September 30, 2025, as troops intensified their crackdown on kidnapping syndicates terrorizing communities in Kwara and neighboring states.

Security operatives engaged Maidawa’s gang in a gun battle around Isanlu-Isin, leading to the death of the kingpin and his foot soldiers. Intelligence reports later confirmed that news of Maidawa’s death was relayed by another wanted kidnapper, Baccujo, who disclosed the incident to his associates during a conversation.

The operation was part of a renewed offensive ordered by the Kwara State government, following repeated abductions, ransom demands, and violent attacks on civilian populations.

Authorities revealed that the ongoing security operations are being conducted in phases, covering flashpoint LGAs such as Ekiti, Ifelodun, Isin, Edu, and Patigi, where kidnapping incidents have been frequent in recent weeks.

Speaking on the development, a senior security aide said the elimination of Maidawa marks a major breakthrough in the fight against insecurity in Kwara.

With Maidawa eliminated and operations ongoing, security agencies say they remain committed to hunting down remaining kingpins and ensuring the safety of lives and property in the state.
