The Kano State House of Assembly has condemned remarks made by the Vice Chancellor of Bayero University Kano (BUK), Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, regarding the demolition of buildings in Rimin Zakara town.
Rahma Radio reported that the criticism followed a motion by Aminu Sa’adu Ungogo, the lawmaker representing Ungogo Local Government Area. He urged the Assembly to intervene and prevent BUK and its supporters from continuing the demolition, which has reportedly resulted in four deaths and multiple injuries.
Ungogo described the demolition as unlawful, arguing that the actions of the university and those backing it violate legal provisions. The Assembly’s response signals growing opposition to the demolitions and their consequences.
