Ribadu Demands Public Apology from Naja’atu Muhammad Over Alleged Malicious Comment

Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser (NSA), has demanded a public apology and retraction from Naja’atu Muhammad, leader of the Northern Star, over what he described as a defamatory statement made on TikTok.

Ribadu’s demand was conveyed in a letter addressed to Muhammad by his legal representative, Ahmed Raji, on Tuesday.

According to the letter, Muhammad alleged in a TikTok video that Ribadu had previously discredited the integrity of President Bola Tinubu, Minister of Special Duties George Akume, and Senator Orji Kalu during his tenure as chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). She claimed that Ribadu made these remarks when Tinubu, Akume, and Kalu were serving as state governors.

Furthermore, Muhammad accused Ribadu of now serving in an administration led by the very individuals he allegedly criticized in the past.

In response, Raji stated that the NSA “has never held such a viewpoint” about any of the three politicians. He emphasized that Muhammad’s comments had caused “immeasurable damage” to Ribadu’s reputation and challenged her to provide evidence to substantiate her claims.

“To mitigate the harm caused, our client expects you to retract the statement and issue an unreserved public apology in at least five national daily newspapers within seven days of receiving this letter,” the letter reads.

“Failure to comply will leave us with no choice but to pursue legal action, where we will seek exemplary damages against you.
