In a move to combat food insecurity, the Nigerian government has allocated 20 trucks of rice to each of the 36 state governments and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, for distribution to Nigerians in need.
This decision was announced by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, following a Federal Executive Council meeting on Monday.
Minister Idris stated that the rice distribution is specifically targeted at the most vulnerable groups in society. He noted the aim of ensuring that every Nigerian has access to food.
“This initiative is part of broader efforts to address food security challenges across the country, particularly in light of economic hardships exacerbated by various factors,” Idris said.
The rice distribution aims to alleviate food insecurity and support those most affected by economic strains.
