Court Grants Bail to 20 Suspects in Plateau Wedding Massacre Case

Plateau – Jos: A Plateau State High Court has granted bail to 20 individuals accused of murdering 13 wedding guests in Mangun community, Mangu LGA, in a June attack.

Justice Nafisa Lawal Musa, a vacation judge, approved the bail on Thursday following a motion from the defence counsel, Garba Pwul (SAN). The decision was significantly influenced by a legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), which the defence cited in its application.

The police had charged the suspects with criminal conspiracy, mischief with dangerous weapons, culpable homicide, and causing grievous harm for the June 12th attack. The victims were en route to a wedding in Qua’an Pan LGA.

While an earlier bail request in July was unsuccessful, the vacation court granted the recent motion, ordering the suspects’ release pending the resumption of the main trial on October 13, 2025.
